Cars in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were contacted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for information.

A senior political figure commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be solved quickly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
